If you know much about woodworking and woodworking tools, you probably know that HTC has a reputation for making very nice stuff. My first erperience with the company was with a dedicated mobile base for my Jet Cabinet saw, and it worked so smoothly I was a believer. I was fortunate enough to pick up this outfeed table when it was on special at Amazon and it has been worth every penny.
Delivery: This item actually ships in two seperate boxes. In my case, the mounting bracket shipped with CEVA, and the roller table itself shipped with Eagle. Neither box was particularly heavy, but there was confusion with the order because the boxes were not delivered at the same time and only one tracking number was provided. The invoice from the first box indicated that the order had been completed, so I had to call Amazon to make sure that they hadn't forgotten about the rest. The got to the bottom of it by the next day, and the second box was delivered within another day. Total shipping time for both boxes from PA to TX, less than 2 weeks.
Installation and Instructions: This table requires some assembly. The instructions provided by HTC left a little something to be desired, as the photos and diagrams were pretty weak, but ultimately if you have a table saw nice enought to warrant buying on of these you're probably handy enough to figure everything out with the basic guidance provided by the instructions. Note that installation does require you to drill 6 holes in the body of your saw's cabinet. Not a problem except that you need an 11/32" bit, which you probably only have on hand if you've bought one of those huge bit sets. Most sets will include a 3/8" but not a 11/32". Anyway, the bottom line was I had to make a special trip the home center to buy the bit (a nice Dewalt will run you about $8 for the single bit), but otherwise I had everything I needed (canter punch, basic wrenches, straight edge, combination square, etc.).
Function: I was really impressed with how the designed this table to allow it to drop down when using a miter guage. This allows you to set it so that when it's in the ripping position, it is practically dead level with the table. Adjustments to the pitch of the table (to ensure parallelism with table top) are easy and accessible, but you'll need to get the entire frame to the right height initially upon installation. Folding it up into position is easy and it locks into position without effort. All parts are steel and the frame and mounting bracker are very, very sturdy. Based on where I mounted mine, I have excellent outfeed support to the right of the blade (about 20"), but minimal support to the left of the blade (about 6"). If you're going to be ripping a lot of plywood sheets, this table might not be as perfect for you as the 37" model, but this will certainly do in a pinch and then some.
Flaws: I read a review in the reviews fr the 37" model in which the owner complained about the precision of the location of the rollers - their tops weere not all perfectly coplaner, resulting in some rollers not rolling all the time. To this I would say that such a degree of perfections is not necessary for this type of table to do it's job in the creation of fine furniture. What's more important is that rollers are very close to be coplaner, and more importantly there are several of them so you never have to worry about the stock dipping into a gap and getting hung up. Also, the rollers are bearing mounted, so the spin like champs. My one true crticism involves the location of a bolt head on the cam adjustment relative to the 9.5" roller bar (you'll know what I'm talking about if you buy this). When I first installed, I noticed that the bar was rubbing against a corner of the bolt head, prventing it from spinning freely. Fixing this was as easy as tightening the both another 1/16 rotation so it was a flat area next to the cylinder and not a corner. Problem solved.
Overall: A great outfeed table by a great company. Just try to get a good deal on it!
